Founder spotlight with Robert Rasmussen

Robert Rasmussen's journey to co-founding Agile Six began in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a network and systems engineer. That experience instilled in him a deep appreciation for the phrase "I've got your six" — military speak for "I've got your back."

After his military service, Robert spent over a decade in the telecom sector as an IT contractor, where he witnessed firsthand the challenges that government agencies face when trying to modernize their digital services.

The birth of Agile Six

"We founded Agile Six because we believed there had to be a better way to deliver technology for government," Robert explains. "Too often, we saw projects that prioritized process over people, and contracts that incentivized the wrong behaviors."

The name "Agile Six" combines two core principles: the agile methodology that enables teams to deliver value quickly and iteratively, and the military ethos of watching out for your teammates.

Building a different kind of company

From day one, Robert and his co-founders set out to build a company where people genuinely wanted to work. "We wanted to create an environment where people could bring their whole selves to work, where they felt trusted and empowered to make decisions."

This people-first approach has paid dividends. Agile Six has grown to over 100 employees while maintaining the culture and values that made it special in the first place.

Looking forward

"The mission hasn't changed," Robert says. "We're still focused on making government services work better for the people who depend on them. We're just able to have a bigger impact now."
